Opioid Solutions for Tennessee’s Counties

The Opioid Abatement Council, established by the Tennessee General Assembly, oversees the distribution of funds derived from opioid lawsuit settlements. By law, 35% of settlement proceeds are allocated to counties, empowering county governments to address the unique needs of their communities.

The opioid epidemic has deeply affected families and communities across Tennessee, leaving a legacy of pain and loss. To combat this crisis, the Council supports programs focused on opioid remediation, guided by input from stakeholders and the TDMHSAS Statewide Planning and Policy Council. Annual reports ensure transparency and accountability, detailing how funds are spent and which strategies are supported.

By working together, Tennessee is taking meaningful steps toward healing and recovery for all its communities.

In 2024, Tennessee’s 95 counties received $31,073,223 in payments from the Opioid Abatement Trust Fund as part of the state’s effort to combat the devastating impact of the opioid epidemic.
