Get Ready! 5 Ways to Plan Ahead for TCSA’s County Government Day 2026

County Government Day is quickly approaching, and now is the time for county officials to finalize plans for one of TCSA’s most important advocacy events of the year. Taking a few steps in advance will help ensure you get the most value from your time in Nashville on February 23–24, 2026.

1. Register early to secure your spot

Conference registration is open, and we strongly encourage members to register as soon as possible. County Government Day provides a unique opportunity to engage directly in state-level discussions that impact county government, and early registration helps TCSA plan effectively on your behalf.

2. Book your hotel and let us know if you need help

The official conference hotel is the DoubleTree Hotel in Downtown Nashville. If you are unable to reserve a room at the DoubleTree, please notify the TCSA staff as soon as possible. Early communication allows us to better assist members and address lodging challenges.

3. Plan ahead for Legislative meetings Monday & Tuesday

County Government Day is a key time for legislative engagement. Members are encouraged to contact their state legislators in advance to request a meeting while in Nashville. These conversations are critical in helping lawmakers understand county priorities and local impacts.

Members are encouraged to attend a Senate or House floor session on Monday evening. Observing a floor session provides a valuable learning opportunity to see state legislators in action, better understand legislative procedures, and gain firsthand insight into how policy decisions are debated and decided.

4. Consider attending a legislative committee meeting

If you are unable to schedule a one-on-one meeting with your legislators, plan to attend a legislative committee meeting scheduled for Tuesday morning. Observing committee discussions provides valuable insight into the policymaking process and issues affecting counties.

5. Make the most of your time at the Capitol

County Government Day is about visibility, education, and advocacy. Whether you are meeting directly with legislators or attending committee hearings, your presence reinforces the county perspective at the state level.

More details will be shared as the event approaches. In the meantime, register for the conference, secure your lodging, and begin planning your legislative outreach to ensure a productive County Government Day.
