BEP Budget Estimates

For planning purposes, the state Department of Education each year provides local education agencies (LEAs) with BEP budget estimates that can be used as the LEA proposes its budget to the county commission for approval. In an effort to keep you apprised of budget figures the LEA will be using in drafting its proposal for the next fiscal year, the Tennessee County Services Association has once again posted those estimates on its website for your use. Keep in mind that these are preliminary reports and that the department will be updating those projections as they collect data necessary for calculating BEP totals for the new fiscal year. A final BEP projection is expected to be released by the department in July each year.

2022 TISA Education Funding Formula Resources

The following information was distributed from TCSA leadership about The Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement (TISA) Act, which was enacted into state law in 2022. This fundamental change in the state's education funding formula changed quite a bit from its original ideation, but TCSA worked hand-in-hand with state leadership and its county officials membership to determine the best outcome it could for county officials and local school boards. TISA at County Government Day (Posted March 7, 2022)

At the center of discussions at 2022 County Government Day at the end of February was the new Tennessee Investment in Student Achievement Act (TISA). This is the Governor’s proposed new education funding formula. We are gathering information and analyzing data as quickly as we can so that we can let you know how it will affect your school system. The act is in an amendment proposed to SB2396/HB2143.

Below, you'll see a file that has all of the allocation estimates for all school systems in the state. These were mailed out to directors of schools recently and we were able to get a copy of the projections for all school systems and are beginning to analyze that data.
