TCSA Fall 2023 Conference and Trade Show Registration Now Open

Tennessee County Services Associations (TCSA) has set the dates and location for the annual Fall 2023 Conference and Trade Show. Mark your calendars and plan to join us in Chattanooga on October 18-20th. Major highlights include adopting the Legislative Platform, Board elections, and county vendor services, as well as good exhibits. 

We are currently working on finalizing the agenda for the conference and trade show with various breakout sessions, general session speakers, and other educational opportunities at the conference. We hope to have  the agenda of the various events available for everyone over the coming weeks.

TCSA Now Accepting 2023 County Success Stories

At this year's Fall Conference & Trade Show, TCSA plans to recognize counties that have demonstrated excellence in governance, innovation in problem-solving, and best practices for delivering services.

To be considered for a County Success Story award, the project or achievement should demonstrate:
an innovative solution to a problem
• a sustained pattern of excellence in governance
• a best practice that increased efficiency in the delivery of county services or resulted in significant savings to taxpayers
• a new approach or the use of new technology to deliver services
OR
• improved cooperation or coordination between county offices or local governments that resulted in enhanced delivery of services.

TCSA Attends 2023 NACo Conference to Represent Tennessee

The National Association of Counties held its annual conference in Austin, Texas over the last week. Numerous Tennesseans were present in the Lone Star state to meet with their counterparts from across the country, attend steering committee meetings and hear dynamic national speakers in the general sessions.

The conference had over 3,000 people in attendance, including representatives from the many companies that participated in a massive trade show of goods and services for county government. Nine Tennessee counties sent elected officials or staff to the event, and both TCSA Director David Connor and TCHOA Director Brett Howell were in attendance.

Governor Lee Announces $185 Million in Grants for Broadband Access in Tennessee
Broadband Services to Expand Across the State 

NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Tennessee Gov. Bill Lee and Department of Economic and Community Development (TNECD) Commissioner Stuart C. McWhorter announced that the department will offer up to $185 million in grants to expand internet access in Tennessee.

Starting in September 2023, TNECD will provide grants allocated through the Financial Stimulus Accountability Group to expand broadband access in Tennessee’s underserved and unserved areas through two programs: TNECD Last Mile and Middle Mile Grants.

“As Tennessee continues to experience record economic growth and job creation, we’re committed to furthering our administration-wide mission to expand opportunity in rural and underserved communities across our state,” said Gov. Bill Lee. “What happens in rural Tennessee matters to all Tennesseans, and I thank the General Assembly and the Financial Stimulus Accountability Group for partnering with us to expand broadband infrastructure and provide critical resources to Tennesseans across our state...”

TN Comptroller's Office Releases New Career Focus Resources

Wednesday, July 05, 2023: The Tennessee Comptroller’s Office is releasing a new collection of short publications, infographics and an interactive data dashboard for career and technical education (CTE) in Tennessee. The collection includes briefs, infographics, and an interactive data dashboard. A new publication in the CTE collection will be released weekly over the coming weeks.

An interactive dashboard will also display the latest state and federal data on the performance and enrollment of secondary and postsecondary students in CTE programs, and users can compare CTE categories, also known as career clusters.

The first release in this collection is a brief that provides an overview of CTE in Tennessee, including the goals of CTE and how it connects to the state’s workforce development system.
