LGIP Offering OSHA Certification
Multiple two-day sessions providing instruction on general industry safety and health standards are scheduled for this May and June. The Local Government Insurance Pool, an agency of the Tennessee County Services Association, is offering the OSHA certification course May 30-31 at the Maury County EMA Operations Center and June 20-21 at the Fayette County EMA office.
The course is intended for those who are just entering the safety field and would like a better understanding of what is required and where to start. Course subject matter includes an introduction to OSHA, OSHAct/General Duty Clause, inspections, citations and penalties, walking and working surfaces, means of egress, fire protection, electrical, bloodborne pathogens, personal protective equipment, hazard communication, lockout/tagout procedures and TOSHA Public Sector.
Each attendee who completes this will receive an OSHA 10-Hour General Industry card.
LGIP representative are specifically targeting the follow potential attendees, which may include, an example, highway superintendents, highway garage foreman, school transportation supervisors, school bus garage foreman, sheriff employees who supervise work detail inmates, maintenance supervisors, and other officials/employees with responsibility for workplace safety.
This is a 2-day session, and attendance is required both days to receive the certification card. Both classes are 9 a.m. - 3 p.m.
