2014 Records

  • Where the designation of a person’s sex has been made on police booking sheets, warrants, and other court records in accordance with the person’s birth certificate, a court would likely conclude that the designation cannot be altered on those records as a result of sex-change surgery.  Opinion No. 14-70 (July 16, 2014).
  • Applications for the position of clerk and master are public records.  Unless there is an action pending before the court, the chancery court has no jurisdiction to issue an order sealing the application documents for the position of clerk and master.  Opinion No. 14-59 (May 30, 2014).
  • The date a worker’s compensation policy is cancelled is not a “policy expiration date” and therefore is a confidential record.  Opinion No. 14-11 (January 21, 2014).
