2008 Alcoholic Beverages

  • A beer board may issue an on-premises beer permit to a golf course, allowing the sale of beer within the confines of the golf course property. A golf course patron may purchase and consume beer on the course if an on-premises beer permit has been issued for the course. If the clubhouse has been issued a permit for off-premises consumption the patron may purchase beer in the clubhouse and consume it outside on the course if allowed by the course owner and not prohibited by other local regulation.  The golf course is not considered an outdoor serving area contiguous to the clubhouse.  A beer board may issue a separate, temporary beer permit to an existing permit holder for an outdoor event that is not contiguous to the permit holder’s building.  Persons who are issued special occasion and caterer permits to sell alcohol by the Alcoholic Beverage Commission must also obtain a beer permit if they want to sell beer.  Opinion No. 08-09 (January 18, 2008).
